Everyone is a Teacher

One of our family mottos is: Everyone is a teacher. There's no choice about it, someone is always learning from you. Your choice is whether you teach good or bad lessons.

When I picked my son up  from kindergarten, he thought it would be great fun if I chased him while he ran in a big circle until I caught him so I could put his coat and boots on.

His little friend delightedly watched us like we were a clip on Americas Funniest Videos. When we got outside I told my son, "You did not teach a good lesson today."

The  next day my son's jaw dropped as we watched Jesse's mother run laps behind Jesse in the vestibule. Okay, I admit it, it was hilarious...until she stopped and opened a can of whoop-ass. She grabbed Jesse and his coat, boots, scarf, and mitts went on in record time, he was harshly reprimanded, grounded and lost many privileges for the week.

My son's guilty glance told me he fully understood the meaning of "we are all teachers".

We are all students consciously or unconsciously enrolled in the school of life around us, our choice is to lead or follow.
